It was a turning point in my life when I entered BIIT on July 02, 2002. I was born and brought up in a small village near Sivakasi. As all my family members are working in fireworks factory, I was also destined to hold on to crackers as a child-worker. But then, the turn of events changed my destiny to become a software developer. BIIT makes turning points in life for many students. I am sure, I too will make tremendous change in the society by facilitating turning points for many poor children .

July, 06, 2003 is an unforgettable day in my life- it’s the day of my admission into BIIT. A turning point in life indeed! Coming from rural background and studying till Higher Secondary School in Tamil medium school, the thought of becoming an IT student was quite unthinkable. Now, I am able to communicate in in English and an IT literate too. BIIT has given me not only the knowledge in information Technology, but also offers personal maturity and growth. I have learnt not to limit life’s possibilities. Being confident in life, I remain thankful to this institute. Education is life and everyone must strive for it .

BICS provided a wonderful environment for learning. It is my home wherein I am built more than being a professional. For instance, I still remember the day when I received forfeit card three times for not speaking in Englis. That day onwards, taking it as challenge, I started speaking in English. This has become one of my plus points in getting overseas profession. I thank Fr. Francis Guezou and the management for inculcating in me the social consciousness to work towards community development. And, I wish to render my full support to BIIT and BOSCO ITS in every possible way .

I am from a rural area but did my schooling in Chennai, where I had no opportunity to nurture my talents. My aim was to become a teacher; and, being a poor student, I was unable to get a place in Teacher Training Institute. I thought that, becoming a teacher was the only opportunity in the world and when I was not placed, I was utterly discouraged. But when I entered BICS (of course, without any aim in life) I realized that there is yet another opportunity, called ‘Information Technology’. BICS moulded, shaped and formed me in every sphere of my life. After the schooling, I was very diffident and quiet. But now I am confident enough to express myself, communicate with others and grow into a confident, positive and happy young woman with a definite plan for me andthe society. Thanks to BICS. If not BICS, I would still have been a schoolgirl. I am deeply grateful to Fr Guezou, all the fathers, staff and my fellow students who made a drastic change in my life .

I am from a poor family. When I was doing my 12th std, I thought that I won’t be able to pursue my higher studies beyond 12th std. My desire was to go for nursing. But being a poor girl, I could not afford and I was disappointed. Then came the divine intervention through the instrumentality of my prophetic Parish Priest, Fr. Sahayaraj. He showed me the progressive path to BICS InfoTech, Yellagir Hills. I was overwhelmed with happiness to know that I was going to study further and that too in BIIT. However, one that disturbed me was to know that the course, which I was going to do, was through correspondence. Slowly I made up my mind saying, after all, only correspondence courses are suitable for poor people like me, and I consoled myself. But something marvelous awaited me. When I came here I was taken aback to see the opportunities given to the students. These opportunities lead me, To know many new technologies in IT field, To communicate with all, and To live a spiritual life. Here I get not only mere education but also I learn the lessons for life which give meaning to education. I am proud to say that even the corrective actions given in BICS are designed in such a way that they make the person march towards excellence. When I was down and weary it was this institute which pulled me out from my depression and encouraged me to face anything and everything. I thank Fr. Guezou, Fr. Maria and Fr.Thaddeus for having given me this opportunity to come up in my life. I am thankful and grateful to BICS forever .

Poverty was an obstacle for my higher education. Through God’s mercy, I got this golden opportunity to study at BIIT. Students like me get the best of education, not only in Information Technology, but also in Communication skills, Spirituality and Life. The days at DBC and BIIT are more of being at home. Here, I have learned to live with friends, management and society with responsibility. Especially, this Institution teaches us to understand people. I learn people here. My involvement and experience in Student@IT Association has given me skills like organizing seminars and interacting with students and faculty members. Though having a busy schedule, Fr Thaddeus motivated me in Semantic Technology through his personal input and guidance. And I look forward to becoming a software engineer in the field of Semantic technology. I thank Fr Guezou and all the fathers, sister and the Faculty members. They inspire us through their friendliness, counseling, guidance, helping nature, and spirit of hard work. They all are shaping me. And in turn, I look forward to do the same for the unfortunate ones. As I understand, empowerment is first a personal one. It begins with individual person, before it becomes collective. And this is our time to learn, grow and live a happy life. So, let’s start it right now .
